Nash County Emergency Services is a dedicated group of professionals committed to making Nash County a safe place to live and work. This is accomplished through not only emergency response, but also through fire and accident prevention programs and public education. The Department of Emergency Services consists of four divisions: Fire Marshal, EMS, 911 Communications and, Emergency Management.
The Division of Fire and Rescue Services is responsible for coordination of fire protection activities of the 15 fire departments located throughout Nash County. The Fire Marshal's Office assists the departments with training and equipment needs and responds to major incidents.
The Division of Emergency Medical Services provides advance life support care, pre-hospital emergency care, and convalescent transport in a quick and efficient manner to the citizens of Nash County. The 911 Communications Division operates and maintains a county-wide radio and enhanced 911 system which provides coordinated law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services to all Nash County residents. Each year, the division is the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for over 40,000 requests for assistance, dispatching 29 public response agencies, and acting as the centralized point of coordination of all county emergency services.
The Division of Emergency Management plans, prepares and responds to major emergencies and disasters in Nash County. Emergency Management works with all emergency response agencies, governmental services and private industry to coordinate resources to respond to and to mitigate and emergency.
