Health Education Unit

The primary purpose of the Health Education Unit is to provide leadership in initiating interventions to improve the health status of Nash County residents. Our goal is to change environments, policies, and individual behaviors to reduce risk for health problems! Please call (252) 459-9819 if we can assist your group with educational efforts in the following areas:

Teen Pregnancy Prevention (appropriate relationships, peer pressure, abstinence/saying no, consequences, prevention of date rape)

Teen Time

Puberty (physical and emotional changes, hygiene)

Childbirth Education (stages of pregnancy, healthy habits for pregnancy, labor and delivery)

Family Planning (prevention of unplanned pregnancies, birth control methods, abstinence/saying no)

Cardiovascular Health (environment and policy change to make it easier for residents to choose healthy foods and to exercise).

Nutrition (Weight control, low-fat cooking, a Healthy Plate, eating disorders)

Exercise

Smoking cessation

High Blood Pressure

Diabetes, Diabetes Self Management Program, ENERGIZE Nash!

Communicable Diseases (AIDS, Hepatitis B, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, immunizations, preventing the spread of communicable diseases including food borne illness), H1N1

Hand washing/hygiene

Safety including infant safety, child safety seat use, seasonal safety (ticks, hypothermia, etc.)

Public Health/Public Health Careers

Parenting skills (infant nutrition, baby care, when to take children to the doctor, discipline and more!)

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)

Community Health Advocate/Blood Pressure Training

Worksite Wellness
