Nash County Planning and Development Department

The Planning and Development Department is charged with managing the land development and permitting processes of the county in an efficient and effective manner by advising policy boards, assisting citizens and development professionals with specific projects, and enforcing regulations. This service protects citizens' investments in property and works to create a safe building environment. The Department also administers state and federal housing grant programs, provides addressing services and maintains the GIS website. 

Grant Announcement Nash County has been notified of a $780,000 Community Development Block Grant award for the Mamie Lane community located off of W. NC 97.  The grant includes funding for housing, streets, drainage and emergency home repairs.  Improvements will begin in 2011.

Nash County Bike and Pedestrian Plan The Upper Coastal Plain RPO is developing a Bike & Ped plan for Nash County and wants your input.  Visit the website at www.ucprpo.org/NashBike&Ped.html and sign up on the contact form to participate in the plan and/or get news and updates.

2010 Census Progress The first data released from the 2010 Census are the official national and state population counts, which are used to apportion seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. As mandated by the U.S. Constitution, this data must be delivered to the President of the United States by the Census Bureau on or before December 31, 2010.  Check out the State Apportionment Countdown Clock below to find out how much longer until the numbers are in!
