Free Water / Sewer Connections to County Owned Systems!Nash County is working on identifying citizens who are located along existing water and sewer lines who qualify for an almost complete free connection to our system (see attached Press Release and Letter Soliciting Hook-Ups for detailed information). We are applying for Federal Assistance to do this project but have a very short time period to apply. Therefore, please contact Nash County Public Utilities (Cyndy Wells) at 252-462-2436 by February 13, 2012 if interested. There are many benefits of connecting to County water and we encourage you to consider this incredible opportunity.
NEW NASH COUNTY DROP BOXGreat news! For your convenience, when paying your Nash County Public Utilities and Tax Department bill, we now have a payment drop box located at the right of the back entrance of the Claude Mayo, Jr. administration building. Providing this service after hours will assist customers in making payments on time even when our office is closed. Payment deadlines still apply and this box will be checked both morning and evening. Thank you, and please take advantage of this new service.
Help Stop Stormwater Pollution - Report illegal discharges in Nash County by calling toll free 1-877-623-6748 or by completing a complaint form at www.stormwater.org Examples of conditions that might indicate an illegal discharge include: soapy or sudsy water, discoloration or an odd smell, oily slick on water surfaces, construction fencing down & loose soil running into streams, or a lot of dead fish in a localized area.Update on Water Line Construction As a means to secure grant and low interest loan funding, in July of 2007 Nash County created the Central Nash Water and Sewer District (CNWSD), and on December 11, 2007, voters passed a bond referendum approving the funds necessary to secure USDA loan/grant dollars for the construction of a four phase water system expansion. Reduced rates for new customers connecting to this water system are still in effect for most areas. Portions of Phase I and II have been placed in operation, remaining Phase I and II customers will come on line in the coming months after tank construction at Coopers Elementary School is complete.
