On January 17, 2012, Suzette Brett (center) was recognized as Nash County Department of Social Services 2011 Employee of the Year.  As a 15 year veteran employee, Suzette is a Social Worker II in the Child Care Subsidy Program.  She is described as always willing to do whatever is needed for the betterment of the agency, always willing to assist, and always having a smile and kind word.  Suzette is a strong advocate for Relay for Life and shows compassion towards her coworkers as well as the clients she serves. Nash County Receives the Most Improved Food and Nutrition Services AwardJosie Green and Mary Reeves attended the FNS Manager and Supervisor Meeting May 16th - 18th 2011 at the North Raleigh Hilton. Nash County FNS received an award for Most Improved Food and Nutrition Services, Negative Accuracy Rate For Fiscal Year 2010.

 

 


We are glad that you are interested in learning about our agency and the work we do in Nash County to enhance the quality of life for our citizens. Social Workers, Income Maintenance Caseworkers, legal, management and support staff totaling more than 160 employees work as a team to provide Economic and Social Work Services to an Eastern North Carolina county with a population of more than 90,000 people.

Public assistance program recipients represent approximately 18% of the general population. Agency services are aimed at assisting families to achieve self-sufficiency, protecting children from maltreatment and helping senior citizens lead independent and productive lives.

The agency is noted throughout the state for providing quality services. We have consistently earned an Exemplary Rating for Children's Services and are seen as a model county by the state. We have also consistently scored in the exemplary range in our economic programs, processing applications for assistance timely and accurately.
