On May 26, 2010, representatives of Nash County and Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools attended the "Mobilizing NC: Where Air Quality, Energy and Transportation Meet" conference in Raleigh. They were part of a group of 16 sub-award recipients that were presented a large check. Nash County is receiving a grant to help purchase 4 hybrid electric vehicles & NRMPS is receiving a grant to help purchase 2; these vehicles will replace much older, less fuel efficient vehicles that have a greater negative impact on air quality.
