Reserve Program

The Nash County Sheriff's Office Reserve Program provides additional manpower to the Sheriff's Office This group of sworn law enforcement officers, who hold full-time jobs outside the field of law enforcement, vaulter eight hours of their time each month to assist full-time deputies in the performance of their duties. Reserve deputies assist with traffic and crowd control at special events, in addition to providing additional manpower for court and patrol. The reserve officers volunteer, on average, more than 400 hours per year -- the equivalent of $6,000 in deputies' salaries.

Explorer Program

The Nash County Sheriff's Office Explorer program, a collaborative effort of the Sheriff's Office and Boy Scouts of America, enables young adults ages fourteen through twenty-one to learn about careers in law enforcement. Nash County Deputies serve as advisors for the groups and provide instruction on various topics relating to law enforcement at the bi-weekly meetings. The Explorers also assist sworn personnel at special events, including the Nashville Blooming Festival, Castalia Fourth of July Celebration, and Spring Hope Pumpkin Festival.

The Explorer group organizes and holds fundraisers to provide funding for an annual trip to Washington, DC during Peace Officers' Memorial Week. During their visit to the Capitol, they also tour the offices and laboratories of the Federal Bureau of Investigations to learn about the occupations of Federal Agents.
